Shanguan Village has a population of about 600 residents. Half of them have gone out to the city to earn a living, as being farmers here they can only grow potatoes for subsistence living. For 2 years since 2015 they have tried raising funds to rebuild their 20 year old dilapidated, mud walled, thatched roof masjid which leaks when it rains and cold wind drafts through on non rainy days.
However the little they raised was hardly enough and since September 2016 construction came to a standstill. On 5 May 2017, Sis Mariah Mah visited the site and she decided to raise funds to complete at least the prayer hall in time for Eidul fitri congregation prayers. Alhamdulillah kind spirited donors contributed about $80,000(SGD) to resume construction and on Eidul Fitri 2017 the hall was ready for prayers.

We are still trying to raise another $80,000 (SGD) to complete the madrasah annexe, build more wudu’ areas, toilets, a kitchen and a masjid compound.

In China it is the customary ritual to gather outside Prayer Hall and Takbir before proceeding for congregation Eid Prayers.

THE MASJID IS IN ITS FINAL STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION AND STILL REQUIRES FUNDS (About $80,000 SGD) TO COMPLETE THE BUILDING OF ITS LEARNING BLOCK. PLS HELP TO WAQAF or SEDAQAH! MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU! Ameen!
The former masjid was rather small and could only accommodate a maximum of 80 congregation. However it was destroyed by earthquake so in 2011 the masjid committee decided to relocate to another area bounded by 2 villages with a population of 800 villagers. As such there was a need to build a bigger and stronger masjid to take in at least 200 jema’ah for congregational prayers.
A generous businessman from Singapore donated $80,000(SGD) four years ago to start the construction but funds were difficult and slow to raise. After six long years of continual fund seeking, the present masjid cum madrasah costing $400,000(SGD) finally took shape.

Masjid Chairman Lee Xing wang still has to raise funds to build scaffoldings on the slopes surrounding the masjid compound to prevent soil erosion when it rains.
